I don't know why West Coast Park isn't as developed as East Coast Park, because it is a great spot for anyone who lives on the west side. Of course there are the playgrounds 'conveniently' placed around the McDonalds at car park 3 (any taxi driver will know the McDonalds at West Coast park), but that's about it. No bike hire or Rollerblade hire, or any other F&B outlets.

But there is pedal Go-Karting. This is a real find. Tucked away near car park 2, about a 15 minute walk from the playgrounds at car park 3, look for a little hut that also houses the public conveniences. This business is run by the lovely Jasmine and her father, and they have about 10 of these pedal Go-Karts.

I took my kids there on the weekend, along with some friends of my daughter's, and they had a ball. Hire for half hour is $12, and unless you are super fit, half an hour is definitely enough. Even though it is quite a shady area with lots of trees, the heat can become oppressive, and the pedalling soon becomes pretty tiring. But the kids loved chasing each other around the various tracks.
The seats are adjustable so adults can also ride the karts and there are seats that fit into the back for little ones if their legs aren't strong enough or long enough to peddle. I would say the karts are suitable for children as young as 4 to peddle.

The shady trees and BBQ pits make it a great spot for a picnic, so you could make a day of it if you brought along a few provisions. Its never crowded, but the Go-Karts are getting popular, so get down there soon.

Open from 10am weekends, and 12 midday weekdays.
