I took my sister to Orchard Road yesterday while the kids went to the zoo with their Dad. We girls had to have one day of indulgence, and as my sister lives in Alice Springs where the only shops for clothes are "Susan" and "Target", Orchard Road was the obvious starting point.
First stop was Wistma Atria and then Ngee Ann City and Takashimaya. My sister has a wonderfully eclectic style and a great knack for putting together unusual pieces from the second hand shops, so I wasn't hopeful that she'd find much to her liking in the large shopping malls.
We cruised through shop after shop, but nothing grabbed our attention.
The one thing that was interesting was the new Stella McCartney store. On the second floor of Ngee Ann City (shop#02-12), my heart beat a little faster when I spotted it, but alas it was closed. We wandered around for another half hour and returned to checked it out at around 11.30am. The mannequins were having their shoes put on and dresses smoothed down, but still closed. Oh well, we will return!
This is the first Stella McCartney store in South East Asia and apparently stocks her main label as well as accessories and the newly launched organic cosmetic line.
By the way, we did find something interesting to buy, but not on Orchard Road. We took a taxi to Haji Lane, right by Arab street and bought a beautiful old Kimono each at "Vintage Japan" for only $25 each. That's more our style.
