So an elite few have managed to secure a ride in the newest tourist draw in Singapore. The Singapore Flyer will be open to the general public on March 1, but from now until the end of the month the capsules are being hired for private functions. Yesterday some groups were served cocktails and canapies while others tossed yusheng, the traditional salad dish served at Chinese New Year. Corporate businesses paid $8,888 per capsule for this inaugural flight.
For the rest of us, we will have to pay $29.50 for adults and $20.65 for children if we want to queue up in the standard line, or $52 and $36.40 for the shorter queue and a souvenir, whatever that might be. I wonder how they will keep the latter price value for money if everyone opts for that pricing. As for me, if it is a one-off event for the family, I guess avoiding a monstrous queue in the Singapore heat is worth the extra.
