One of the great things about living in Singapore is all the wonderful holiday destinations on our doorstep. Take a quick flight and you can be in Bali, Lombok, Phuket or Krabi. But if you don't feel like flying, or want to cut that cost out of your trip, you can take a bus, train or ferry to Malaysia or Indonesia.

In a few hours I am heading to the island of Sibu, which sits just off the east coast of Malaysia. This Labour Day weekend is the perfect opportunity to slip away as the children have a four day weekend. We will be staying at a resort called Sea Gypsy which is my idea of paradise. No phones, computers, TV, airconditioning, not even a swimming pool. Just a beautiful beach with clear sparkling water, a few beach huts, good food cooked for me, and plenty of time to relax.
We've stayed there before, so know what to expect. There's nothing much to do-perhaps we'll take the little boat out to do some snorkling at the spot my daughter saw a huge sea turtle last time. Perhaps we'll walk through the jungle to the other side of the island. Then again perhaps we wont.
Have a great weekend everyone, and I'll post some pictures of Sea Gypsy when I return.
