Don't forget that the Great Singapore Sale starts this weekend. This annual event is eagerly anticipated by everyone in Singapore who loves shopping (and that's just about everyone). For two months, some great bargains can be found (up to 70% off) at almost every retail outlet island wide as well as restaurants and hotels. Many major stores and malls will extend their shopping hours till 12 midnight and beyond on selected weekends so there is no excuse for not spending your money.

This event is, in fact, co-organised by the Singapore Tourist Board in conjunction with retail companies, stores and malls to promote the tourism industry in Singapore. Tourists from all over the region come to enjoy the sale. Tourists can apply for a Tourist Privilege Card in any Singapore Visitor Centre to enjoy special discounts on fashion apparel, accessories, jewellery, watches, electronic goods, cosmetics and fragrances, children toys and Singapore souvenirs. There will even be discounted prices on local attractions such as the DHL Balloon, Singapore DUCKtours and the Singapore Zoo.

Some hotels on and around Orchard Road are offering special deals to coincide with the Great Singapore Sale. Hotels like the Conrad Centennial at the Marina Centre, and The Orchard Hotel have weekend packages so that tourists can enjoy the shopping. Even airlines such as Qantas are running specials. For more great savings on hotel room rates in Singapore, visit Singapore Hotel for comprehensive listings.
So don't buy anything yet...wait a few days, or longer if you don't want to deal with the crowds, and save your money.
