Tiara, myself, Rose Borromeo, Angel Gomez, Junko and Fei posing before the exam

The past few days have been tied up with non-bloggy things. First Maya came down with an URT infection, then Ben developed impetigo. This is an awful bacterial infection of the skin which is highly contagious and spreads like wildfire, especially in this humid climate. So two kids on antibiotics, no birthday parties or group activities this weekend, and lots of indoor games to keep them entertained.

Then I had my Flamenco exam on Sunday. This is purely for fun and for my own enjoyment, but it was nerve racking all the same. The examiner flew from Australia to examine more than 50 of us doing different levels of the Spanish Dance Institute syllubus. There are children as young as 6 doing the exam, and some of us well into our 40s too. I found it difficult to dance with shaking legs but thankfully Flamenco is very forgiving, and the long skirt hid my jitters.

I have been learning Flamenco for about two years now, and have just completed the second grade (SEGUNDO CURSO) of the Spanish Dance Institute syllabus. I take my lessons at the Dance Circle Studios in Gillman Village, and I just love it. My teacher, Angel, is a little ball of energy with a great sense of humour and an amazing dancer. My weekly class is my escape from other responsibilities where I can concerntrate on something totally foreign to day to day life.

Dance Circle Studios also do lots of kid's dance classes, including Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Flamenco/Spanish Dance. For pre-schoolers there is 'Kiddie Dance ' which gives the children a good foundation of expressive dance before becoming more structured. For older children, say pre-teen and teenage, they run Hip-Hop and Street Jazz classes.

So sorry to hear about your kids being sick. Hope everyone is well now.

The dance classes sound fun. I'll have to check it out when we get there and get settled in.

We've applied for schools now so it's a go. They tell us we'll leave early next summer. The whirlwind of activity and planning begins now! :)

Thanks Andrea, the kids are much better now.
You must be very excited to be finally able to start preparing for your move to Singapore. I feel a little knot of excitement and anticipation in my stomach as I imagine you all embarking on your journey :)

Yes, we are excited and nervous but ready all the same. It seems like a long time until June but I'm sure the time will fly.

I do hope we'll get to meet at some point.
