New Hope Community Services (NHCS), a voluntary organisation which provided shelter and support to men-in-crisis and displaced families, has organised a multi-racial concert 'Multi Racial Charity Ride' on Saturday, 16th May.

This exciting event will be jam packed full of energetic performances by artists such as exuberant TV host and comedian Suhaimi Yusof, popular singer Ismail Haron, ‘Vasantham Star’ Shabir, ex-Singapore Idol finalist Mathilda, and funky five-piece local group The Pinholes. All ticket sales go to this very worthy charity, so please support.

New Hope Community Services runs on a minimal crew of about 8 staff and relies largely on the efforts of volunteers and donations. With the difficult economic times there is a rising number of poor in Singapore and more and more people are being referred to New Hope Community Services, stretching their resources to the limit.

The homeless are not as evident here in Singapore as in many other cities of the world, but they are real nevertheless. New Hope Community Services give displaced families a place to stay while sorting out their problems and helps them get back on their feet.

Their Shelter for Men-In-Crisis has seen referrals almost double in recent months, many of whom are not ex-offenders, but single men unable to pay rent because of job losses. Residents at the Sembawang shelter are given regular counselling sessions and life skills training, and offered referrals and job placements aimed at reintegration into society and breaking the poverty cycle.

I hope that you can feel it in your heart to support this much needed charity and help bring some hope to the lives of the needy in Singapore. I am promoting the concert by offering you the chance to win an hour’s free birthday party facepainting [terms and conditions apply] by Queenie from ArtyBody Face Painting if you buy a ticket directly from me. You can email me at bondi_inspire[at]yahoo[dot]com[dot]sg and we can arrange a meeting place to collect tickets. Queenie is a true talent when it comes to facepainting, and her skills will liven up any child's birthday party.
