Tickets for the Singapore Youth Olympic Games (14 to 26 August 2010) will go on sale this Wednesday, 31st March. Up to 320,000 tickets will be available for sale worldwide and tickets for regular sporting events will cost S$10 for the preliminary rounds, S$15 for the quarter—finals/semi—finals and S$30 for the finals.
Ben will be pleased to hear the tickets for football will be at half that price, so S$5 for preliminaries, S$7.50 for quarter/semi-finals, and S$10 for finals. These ticket prices are very reasonable and I am sure they will entice more people to watch some new events.
The young athletes - aged between 14 and 18 years - will compete in 26 sports and take part in a Culture and Education Programme. Some of the sports will be Equestrian, Judo, Modern Pentathlon, table tennis and fencing. For a full run down on every sport go to the SYOG website
Every morning on our way to the kids' school we note how many days until the opening of the Youth Olympic Games at the official clock outside Ion Orchard (137 days). It will be exciting for the children to watch the young athletes and to experience a few new sports.
